The Best of 2018

Updated: Mar 6, 2019

As we reach the end of 2018 I have been taking some time to be present and reflect on the past year. It has been wonderful, filled with travel, love, and personal growth.

Looking back on my year in books, I finished 26 titles meeting my goal of 25 (YAY!). I have read so many fantastic books this year that I struggled to narrow down my list of favourites, BUT, after much deliberation here they are: My top 5 from 2018.

Top 5 Reads from 2018:

Big Little Lies by Laine Moriarty - I loved the drama in this book! The way the characters storylines are intricately woven together makes for a compelling murder scene.

Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate - This book pulls on your heartstrings as you unravel the mystery of a family torn apart by an illegal adoption agency.

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom - Tuesday's with Morrie teaches you the importance of human connection from the most charming old man you will ever encounter.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows - The book for people who love books. It's a story of how reading brought people together in a time of need.

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keys - A heartbreakingly beautiful story about a man's quest for intelligence. (Review coming soon).

If you are in a reading slump or perhaps looking for a book to start 2019 off right I would highly recommend any of these. The stories are brilliant, compelling, and loveable. They were the ones I didn't want to put down and couldn't stop thinking about when I did.

Wishing you all a happy new year!

Yours Literarily,

Lauren.
